Convert to[[scientific notation]] by default
:{{tld|scinote|123.456}} → {{scinote|123.456}}
:{{tld|scinote|123.456e7}} → {{scinote|123.456e7}}

Specify the number of digits of[[significant figures]]in the second parameter
:{{tld|scinote|123.456|3}} → {{scinote|123.456|3}}
:{{tld|scinote|123.456|7}} → {{scinote|123.456|7}}

Specify the number of significant digits while converting to scientific notation with the first parameter and second parameter
:{{tld|scinote|123.456e7|4}} → {{scinote|123.456e7|4}}
